As the crowd gathers close to the stage in preparation for Chiodos to take the stage, a wave of excitement fills everyone in the room. But, to everyone's disbelief, a human-sized troll takes stage. Leaving the crowd in utter bewilderment, the troll addresses everyone in a demonic and eerie voice, "Welcome to Hell! Now, let's just say that I've done seen and done some pretty terrible things in hell, like having a 69 with Satan's grandmother!" The crowd whoops and applauds at this comment. "But the mose terrible thing I have seen is.....CCHHIIOODDOOOOOS!!" The troll turns and leaves the stage kicking the intro into play.
Chiodos fans from all across the room burst into cheers and wild jumps at the spectacular and unique intro. I can see in the eyes of many that they await one of the greatest times they've ever experienced!
Right on cue, Chiodos takes stage and the crowd goes absolutely insane. From every single person in the crowd trying to throw themselves onstage, to fans wanting a simple touch of the band members skin, everyone on the floor was moving. Nonetheless, Chiodos kicked off the night with The Words 'Best Friends' Become Redefined (a personal favorite of mine). This song captured everyone in the crowd and pumped them up for even more.
Through each song played, every fan was on his feet singing, dancing or jumping along. A lucky select few kids had the chance to get on stage and crowd-surf. Since that had been a dream of mine, I envy the three of you. On a lighter note, the crowdsurfing ended and Chiodos picked up its pace by playing the crowd favorite Baby, You Wouldn't Last A Minute On The Creek.
Holding each other arm-in-arm, this song brought everyone together and made us all feel like one! That is one of the feelings that you encounter when listening to Chiodos and it's infectious.
This ended the night on a good note and made me realize that Chiodos has come a long way from playing to only a handful of people in a crowd to more than a few hundred. The fact that their stage presence personifies a great deal of who they are as band makes me realize that they will one day be loved by all.
