THERE FOR TOMORROW THERE FOR TOMORROW [HOPELESS RECORDS] - AUGUST 05, 2008 |
|
I have to preface this review with one of my early observations about this band: "Man, they must be really young!" After that, I thought about a conversation long passed about how, when were younger, all of our favorite bands seemed to be so much older than us. Nowadays, a music hungry teen can find plenty of bands that are actually in their peer group. Ah, youth! It isn't exactly the sort of thing you think about until you realize that when My Chemical Romance formed, they were nearly all in their mid-twenties, which certainly must be middle aged by today's standards. But, I digress, bringing us nicely to the four fresh faced teen dreams who are no doubt destined to make more than a few female hearts skip a beat. Floridian four piece There For Tomorrow make their first impression on Warped Nation with this self-titled extended player. More than competently led by front man, Maika Maile, There For Tomorrow pull out of their bag of tricks seven tracks of radio-friendly pop punk goodness. The band roars through this release with blistering tracks like 'Pages' and 'Addiction and Her Name' (one of my favorites). Not a bad start for a band with the median age of nineteen. Though they may be young, and it would be oh-so-tempting to rag on them for that alone, There For Tomorrow clearly has the goods to grow in to fierce outfit. The music may not be "cutting edge," but what they may lack in innovation, they make up for with energy and enthusiasm. It will be interesting to see how this band evolves -- they have plenty of time to experiment, after all.
