You guys have a video up on your site from last year's touring; are you making another one for this year's?
CF: ummm, yeah. Actually, I was doing one, I was making a video, and then our camera battery, like, broke. We're too poor right now to buy the new battery. It's in limbo right now. But, yeah, we'll definitely make more videos and put them up!
You guys also have a video of Dave sending baby poop to Angel of Victory Records. Did you actually do that?
CF: That video shows a true and actual event.
AATM: [laughs] What happened with that?
CF: He totally thought it was hilarious, which was good. He didn't get mad. Yeah... I guess he just got a box of poop!
You've been on tour since the beginning of the year, and will essentially be on tour until the end of the year. What keeps you going while on the road?
CF: [pause] What keeps us going? [thinks] We just love what we do. Playing every night is the best feeling in the world. Who doesn't wanna do it?
What sort of fun things do you do while on tour?
CF: We go to movies sometimes... mainly we drink and get in trouble. No! Reading books. Yeah, yeah.
AATM: What's the craziest thing you've done?
CF: Craziest thing I've done? I dunno. Prolly jumped off something that was way too high to jump off during a show and got hurt.
You guys play part of a cover song in the middle of "Right Behind me." Why do you guys do that?
CF: Cause all of us were really influenced by The Clash, and that's a Clash song. It's just kind of a cool thing to get the crowd involved. Since Joe Strummer died this year, it's kind of just paying respect.
Tell me about the video you guys made.
CF: We make it in New York City, it took like 14 hours to make, it was really fun.
AATM: What's the concept of it?
CF: There is no concept.
AATM: I have a crappy Internet connection, so I can't watch it.
CF: No, it's OK. It's just us playing, and this girl that Chris is kind of singing about is kind of doing what sometimes happens in real life -- a girl will try to sabotage your life. [laughs] That's what she's doing; she's trying to sabotage us from playing.
What's been your favorite tour so far and why?
CF: Taking Back Sunday, because it was crazy big shows... like so many people, a lot of excitement. That's why.
What's going to set you apart from other bands on Warped Tour?
CF: ummm... Warped Tour? We're going to try and just give a really good show everyday, even though it's really fuckin' hot out. We're gonna have a blast no matter what.
[Adam joins us at the table]
CF: And, I dunno, we're gonna be hanging out all day! We wanna meet every person at Warped Tour!
You guys are pretty crazy on stage. Has anyone ever gotten seriously injured?
CF: I can name a thousand times when people have been seriously injured.
AATM: Like seriously?
CF: Yeah. Chris got hit in the face with a guitar from this kid, had to go to the hospital, got nine stitches. ummm Adam sprained his ankle. and...
AM: No, Chris sprained my ankle.
CF: Oh yeah. We've all been bloody before and I bruised my leg really bad. I dunno, whatever!
AM: Bruises, cuts...
CF: Yeah, bruises every night.
AM: Minor bleeding. Nothing really serious.
CF: This cut won't go away. I keep getting it. I don't know! Yeah! [laughter] Oh! Dave bleeds all over his drums, too.
What's the craziest thing a fan has ever done for you?
CF: Done for me? It's kind of like done to me. This fan... when we played in San Diego... like grabbed me when I was going out into the crowd and started trying to, like, make out with me, and it was crazy and I couldn't get away from her.
What's the weirdest combination of food you've ever eaten?
CF: I don't know since all we eat is pizza and beer on tour. No, just kidding.
AATM: Subway. [that was our meal of the day that day]
CF: Subway, yeah. Combination of food, I don't know. French fries and chocolate frosting. I dunno.
AATM: Is that good?
CF: Yeah, it's OK.
AATM: We usually eat french fries and ice cream.
What was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid?
CF: umm being the Ghostbusters.
AATM: The Ghostbusters?
CF: Yeah.
AATM: All of them?
CF: Just one. Just being one Ghostbuster. That's mine.
Have you ever been into any crazes like Beanie Babies?
CF: [thinks] Not really. I never got into anything like that. New Kids on the Block! That was pretty much it.
AATM: You were into New Kids on the Block?!
CF: Oh yeah!
AATM: Really?!
CF: Yeah!
AATM: That's funny.
CF: My sister was into them and I was secretly into them.
AATM: Not so secret anymore!
CF: No...
AATM: My cousin and I used to love them and we'd always collect all the stuff and fight over who got to play with this New Kids on the Block doll or whatever.
CF: That's cool!
AATM: Yeah, cause girls have dolls.
CF: No, I know. So did I.
AATM: You had the dolls, too?
CF: No...
AATM: Your sister had them?
CF: ...Just big buttons and posters and movies. It was great! [laughter] I still love the New Kids!
AATM: Did you ever go see the New Kids on the Block?
CF: No, but I loved their live video "Hangin' Tough"!
[the house music is turned on and I'm interrupted by the phone]
If you bought a personalized license plate, what would it say?
CF: [thinks] It would say... I'd just have it say "dude."
AATM: "Dude"?
CF: Yeah, just "dude."
AATM: Why?
CF: Just to be "the dude"!
AATM: "The dude"?
CF: "THE dude."
What's in your pockets right now?
CF: I have my wallet, lighter, pack of gum, guitar pick, and change.
Thanks to Clarke (and Adam) for doing the interview!
